Interview Outfit + Twist Out

I had an interview this week and I struggled for a few days with what to do with my hair. Then  I asked myself why was I stressing so much over it and decided to just try something new and go with it! So, eventhough I am NOT a fan of twist outs on myself, I decided to do a chunky twist out and coil the ends. I set my hair before bed.

I woke up the next morning, got dressed, did my make up and took off my satin head scarf. The twists were still only about 87% dry. I set my blowdryer to the cool shot and went around my head twice. Then i unraveled the twists.
After that, I shook and fluffed until I got this:
And...I got the job!

Saturday Night: Blow out!!

This was the first time I've put any heat on my hair in months. I blow dried my hair on Low with as little heat on each piece as possible I used a wide tooth comb and my hands to pull the hair. Then I pinned one side with two bow tie clips and fluffed the rest out more! It was a HIT!

Friday Night: Wash, Fluff, Pin, and Go!

For this particulate style I used Giovanni Direct Leave in on freshly washed and conditioned hair. The tricky thing with GDLI is that it almost feels like shampoo when putting it on and it suds up for a minute but you just have to let it set. I then scrunched Castor Oil into my hair (my fav!). After that, I diffused while holding the cold shot button the whole time, and then I fluffed... ALOT. Next, I took a small piece of one side and secured it with one of my bowtie clips (another fav!)

Miss Jessie's Product Review

Miss Jessie's Product Review
I requested to try Miss Jessie's Product's and they obliged to send me 2 samples. I preferred to try their deep treatments, but they indicated they did not offer those in samples and that they would send me the Curly Pudding and Baby Butter Creme.
For more information you can view my Youtube review on this product. Overall, I was not impressed by either one. At the price of a should-be miracle product, neither of these wow'd me! In fact, I did not like the waxy coating I felt the Curly Pudding gave my hair (or the next day crunchiness), or the way the Baby Butter Creme seemed to just sit on top of my tresses and....do nothing. Though, I don't think I will becoming a fan of their styling products, I would still consider giving their deep treatments a try in the future. This is my own, general, unbiased review. I do thank Miss Jessie's for supplying me with samples of their product and as well all know Natural hair is different and what doesn't work for me, may very well work for someone else!

Beauty Store Product Find: Sally's!

So, as usual I decided to go product lurking on my lunch break. And what did I find? One of my staple products on sale at Sally's!

I haven't tried the entire Curls line, yet,but one of my staple every day products to use on my hair is their Creme Brule moisturizer! It does well for moisturizing and making my hair soft. It's really light and doesn't cause build up. I love that it's water based, as we all know water based products are best for moisturizing and water is our hairs best friend (or should be!)... Normally priced at $10.99 I found it for $5.47 at Sally's today. I also found it last month on sale at Target for $5.48, but it has gone back up now. I want to try the entire line, but today I only got the Creme Brule and the Goddess Curls, which is a water based gel that claims to combat frizz and provide curl definition. Regularly $7.99, this product was only $3.97! I will do a review on this after I take my current protective style down.

Mini Length Check!

The photo on the right was in February 2012 right around the time I did my second big chop. The photo on the left was taken in May 2012, 3 months later. The first pic was the last time I straightened my hair and since I'm not straightening again until July 1st the second pic is just me trying to pull/stretch the hair. You can use my collar bone as an indicator. It could be the angle, making it look longer in the first pic, but my hair barely touched my shoulders 3 months ago. now stretches to well past my collarbone!

The next pic is an older one I found. I like to use my roots to document my growth as well, since I'm color treated. My hair took a major leap in the month of March. The photo on the left was taken March 3 and on the right, March 30. If you're interested in what I was doing at that time be sure to Comment and I will write a post about it!

Aloe Vera and why it's important!

Aloe Vera and why it's important!

I just wanted to share a little secret with you all that I have found. Natural hair absolutely LOVES Aloe Vera, whether it be in the juice or gel form. The brand I prefer to use is Lily of the Desert. After faithfully using AV Juice and Gel for about a month straight I have found that my hair responds very well to it. It adds moisture, makes hair softer, defines thr curl, helps with detangling, and it is a wide known fact that Aloe Vera has healing properties and since I am color-treated, I definitely need that! I put Aloe Vera in everything. I apply it directly to my hair before any other product after washing, spritz my hair with it every morning, and even include it in my “Super Sealant” that I concocted. I will describe it in a different post. In addition to using Aloe Vera faithfully on my hair, I make it a point to Drink “Aloe Water” every morning first thing. I mix 8oz of AV Juice with 16 oz of water, to form a 24oz drink. It is delicious and extremely good for your insides!
